Every year there is a band that I have never heard of that sneaks in with a beauty of an album. Controlling The Famous' Automatic City was this album in 2006. It has a vibe that reminds me of Minus The Bear, but they create a more straight-forward rock album that has a slight touch of funk to it. A very good album for a lazy Sunday afternoon.

Saves The Day - Sound The Alarm

Saves The Day are long-term stalwarts of the modern punk scene. They are a band with a unique ability to reinvent themselves and create a new sound with every release. Sound The Alarm is their latest album, and combines elements of all of the bands previous records. Written during a time when frontman Chris Conley was crippled by depression and self-doubt after being dropped from major label Dreamworks and being faced by uncertainty of the bands future. These emotions shine through in both the music and lyrics, as this album has many aggressive and urgent moments. One of the best releases of 2006, I suggest that you listen to this if you have not already.
